Appointed as General Counsel Sustainability | Global Counsel Oral Care in July 2023.

The GC Sustainability role is pivotal in aligning Unilever’s operations with its sustainability goals: aiming to build a business that can deliver value for a range of stakeholders over the long-term in the right way. Guiding the organization’s legal strategies and policies to ensure governance, transparency and compliance with sustainability regulations and social responsibility, including stakeholder management.

Recent highlights: introduction of Climate Transition Action Plan 2024, ensuring accurate non-financial reporting, upholding responsible marketing, supply chain due diligence and emerging ESG legislation and trends impacting business operations.

Until 1 August 2023 Margot was Chief Counsel Executive Compensation and Secretary to the Compensation Committee for Unilever Plc. In that capacity she was responsible for Executive Compensation, Incentive Plans, wider HR and Corporate matters, including Stakeholder Management around these topics.

Dutch qualified lawyer with 25+ years of expertise knowledge in ESG, Corporate Governance, Board Matters, Stakeholder Management, Compliance, Executive Compensation and Global Marketing in FMCG. She has experience working in private practice advising listed corporate clients & VC from a range of industries and jurisdictions re wider Capital Markets matters.

Margot is passionate about learning new things, and holds Master’s degrees in Civil, Corporate and Securities Law.

Maurice Loosschilder

Global Head of Sustainability

Maurice Loosschilder is the Global Head of Sustainability at Signify. Striving for a more sustainable future by making a difference and driving change, he leads the global sustainability team and function. Maurice is responsible for the creation and execution of Signify’s ‘Brighter Lives, Better World’ programs, which are leading sustainability programs with ambitious commitments to improve Signify’s positive impact on the environment and society.

With more than 22 years of experience in the lighting industry, he worked for Philips and Signify. Prior to his current role, Maurice held the position of Head of Sustainability Strategy and Reporting. Before that, as Director Collection and Recycling, he was an international board member in the Supervisory Boards of four E-waste collection and recycling organizations across Europe.

Before Maurice transitioned into the sustainability department, he held several roles in pricing and started his career in IT program management.

Maurice graduated Cum Laude from the Technical University of Eindhoven and holds a MSc degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Science and a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2019, he completed the Executive Leadership and Transformation Program at Harvard Business School Executive Education and in 2023 he completed the Board Certificate training for supervisory board members at Board Company.

Dr. Jane Thostrup jagd

Director – Net Zero Finance

Dr. Jane Thostrup Jagd is the Director of Net Zero Finance at the We Mean Business Coalition. She is also a member of various technical working groups, including ESMA’s Corporate Reporting ISC Consultative Working Group, Accountancy Europe’s Sustainability Reporting Standards Working Party, ISSB’s Technical Reference Group, the Capacity Building Partner Network, and SBTi Finance Technical Advisory Group.

Jane works to ensure better and more reliable financial and non-financial reporting from companies to investors. She also aims to improve the ways investors work with this data, thereby enabling capital to be funneled to the best solutions within companies. Recently, Jane authored a report covering 75 inspiring solutions from 30 CSRD Early Adopter companies.

Jeroen Nijhoff

Corporate Sustainability Officer

With over two decades of experience in the financial sector, Jeroen has honed his skills in managerial reporting, external reporting, and project management. His financial expertise and track record of managing significant international projects at Robeco are invaluable assets in his current roles as Corporate Sustainability Officer and Program Director of our Integrated Reporting Project.

As a global asset manager, Robeco enables clients to achieve their financial and sustainability goals by providing superior investment return and solutions. By doing so, Robeco actively contributes to the transformation to a more sustainable world: creating both wealth and well-being. Additionally, I am an active member of the GRI Technical Committee Capital Markets, where I am involved in the creation of the GRI sector standards for the Financial Services Industry.

Jia Liu

Global Sustainability Director, System Certification & Customized Audit, People & Business Assurance
TÜV Rheinland Group

Jia Liu is a global sustainability leader specialising in Carbon and ESG business assurance practice. Her work focuses on enhancing transparency and validating companies’ progress toward achieving sustainable development goals and climate targets. With over 20 years of extensive professional experience in sustainability across Europe, the US, and China, Jia is well-equipped to assist global companies in fulfilling their sustainability reporting requirements and achieving environmental excellence from a life cycle perspective. Her technical expertise in sustainability is complemented by her strategic thinking, negotiation and communication skills, multicultural mindset, and stakeholder engagement abilities.  At TÜV Rheinland, Jia leads a team of technical experts dedicated to scaling and operationalising global service offerings in carbon and ESG. Additionally, she is actively involved in many leading industry initiatives across various sectors, such as textiles and hospitality, focusing on sector-specific sustainability standard-setting, data measurements and public disclosures.

Martin Nagelsmit

Head of Sustainability & Environment Department
Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre

Martin Nagelsmit is Head of the Sustainability and Environment department at the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre. Previously, he was Business Manager at the Aerospace Vehicles Division of NLR and led NLR’s electric flight research. Nagelsmit studied Aerospace Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. For his graduation, he did a Research Internship at the Pennsylvania State University before joining NLR. Martin started as a PhD researcher at NLR. The topic of his thesis was ‘improving the damage tolerance of composites by using non-conventional laminates’, which led to a successful patent application.

Subsequently, he managed and worked in several projects, ranging from European framework projects to commercial R&D. Martin is the chairman of the ECATS International Association for the promotion of joint activities in the field of aviation environmental impact.

Martine van de Laar

Global Leader Natural Capital & Circular Operations

Martine van de Laar, a former M&A lawyer with over a decade of experience, made a bold career shift to follow her passion for sustainability. She now heads the global Natural Capital team at Philips, leading efforts to minimize environmental impact and preserve biodiversity and ecosystem services. 

Martine had also spearheaded a circular operations program for Philips’ global sites, contributing to their carbon-neutral status since 2020 and significant waste reduction and material reuse, managing over 90% of operational waste in a circular way.

When she’s not focusing on Philips’ environmental footprint professionally, you will probably still find her in nature, camping near the coast or hiking in the dunes!

At Hermes Germany, Florian leads the charge on sustainability initiatives as the Sustainability Officer. He spearheads the development of the company’s sustainability strategy, setting clear goals and measures. Implementation of this strategy is a joint effort with various departments within Hermes Germany.

Prior to his current role, Florian honed his strategic thinking and consulting skills at Otto Group Inhouse Consulting for seven years. He joined Hermes Germany three years ago. He has a double degree in the study of International Management at ESB Business School Reutlingen and Dublin University.

Maarten de Haan

Maarten has a background in project management and consulting (Accenture, Deloitte, etc.), and international experience from living and working for over 5 years in Brazil. His sustainability journey started with doing a renewable energy project for Bayer Crops Science and becoming a city councilor for the city he lives in. Last year he joined Kraft Heinz as senior manager Environmental Sustainability, focusing on all Nature related topics like water, zero-deforestation, biodiversity and regenerative agriculture.

Anna Krotova is the Head of Sustainability at Picnic Technologies, a position she has held since September 2023 in Amsterdam. Prior to this, she was the Director of Sustainability at an Amsterdam fintech Mambu from May 2021 to April 2023, where she established and led the company’s sustainability function, integrating sustainability as one of Mambu’s five strategic objectives and earning recognition on the UK Women in Fintech Powerlist 2022. At the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Anna was the Senior Standards Manager, overseeing the development of widely-used corporate sustainability and ESG reporting standards, including the GRI Universal Standards and those focused on water, biodiversity, and waste. She is the lead author of the book “How to be a Chief Sustainability Officer”, released in June 2024.

Auke Boomsma

Director of Sustainability Programs

Auke, Director of Sustainability Programs at ERIKS, is a sustainability champion in the industrial sector. He leverages his expertise in sustainability reporting and decarbonisation strategies to collaborate with stakeholders and develop impactful eco-friendly solutions. These solutions not only reduce ERIKS’ carbon footprint and boost their performance, but also empower their customers to make a positive environmental impact. Based in Amsterdam with his wife and two young children, Auke embraces an active lifestyle, playing hockey, football, and exploring new places through running.

Nicole Sautter

Director of Global Sustainability

As Director of Global Sustainability, Nicole spearheads Amex GBT’s sustainability strategy with respect to internal targets and external products and services. Nicole brings over a decade of experience working across the travel and sustainability ecosystem, including for ABTA – the UK Travel Association’s Sustainability Department and South Pole – a leading Climate Solutions Provider in Carbon Markets and Renewable Energy Portfolio Management. Prior to these roles, Nicole worked in Product Development and Responsible Travel for STA Travel. Nicole holds a Postgraduate Diploma (Education for Sustainability) from London South Bank University and a BA Hons (International Tourism Management) from Leeds Beckett University.
